Oban translates as 'little bay' from Gaelic. A rich and warming malt, balanced with a smoky dryness. Matured in both re-used American oak and European oak sherry casks resulting in a rich golden colour. Created by two of Diageo's Master Blenders, Dr Matthew Crow and Dr Craig Wilson.
The nose is oily, with strong notes of nuts and apples. Almonds and oranges combine to resemble a Christmas pudding or fruit cake. The palate is fruity, orange, apples and pears mixed with a dry almond. The finish is medium length, ginger, malted barley and subtle tones of chocolate.
