A truly delightful single malt from the reputable Speyside Glenfarclas distillery. Aged in ex-bourbon hogsheads from 1980 until it's bottling date in 2017 where it was bottled at cask strength. This is a rare opportunity to try a vintage Glenfarclas with only 262 bottles being produced.
The nose is bold and complex, the profile boasts an array of inviting aromas that leaves you wanting more. The journey starts with orchard fruits, Valencian orange, apples, ripe pears with a hint of zest. This sweet profile continues with the addition of vanilla, sweet pastry and Manuka honey, this max is balanced perfectly with some spicer notes, clove, pepper and mixed spice. A hint of leather and smoky peat is ever present to remind you of the vintage and class you are about to drink.
The palate is layered and somewhat reminiscent of the nose. That beautiful mix of sweet flavours is present. Vanilla, honey, tropical and orchard fruits bounce around on the tongue before the spices and earthy flavours are introduced. Black pepper, clove, peat, smoked oak, wax and leather. A truly divine malt! The finish is velvety, spices and smoke are ever present.
