Macduff 1997 25 Year Old, Xtra Old Particular Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky (Douglas Laing)
This Highland single malt from Macduff spent 25 years maturing in a single refill hogshead between 1997 and 2023. That cask (#17100) was finished independent bottler Douglas Laing, creating a total of 280 cask-strength bottles for the Xtra Old Particular series.
NOSE
The nose opens with the sweetest barley notes coupled with honey glazed fruits and a gentle spiciness.
PALATE
The palate is fulsome and mouth coating. Initially anticipate custard and a thick creaminess giving way to a lemon meringue pie style.
FINISH
The lingering finish reveals more of that earlier spiciness with a touch of cinnamon alongside puff pastry and poached pears.
