The Macallan Concept No.1 2018

Released as the first instalment in an imaginative series from Macallan, Concept No.1 arrived in 2018 as a travel retail exclusive inspired by the world of surreal art. This expression takes a creative approach to maturation, bringing together spirit aged for equal periods in sherry oak and bourbon casks.

The idea behind the series is to explore how different cask influences can shape a whisky in unexpected ways. That sense of experimentation is reflected not only in the liquid but also in the striking presentation, designed to spark curiosity and conversation with every pour.

Tasting Notes

Aroma
A lively introduction of butterscotch and sweet toffee, layered with almond and warming spice. Cinnamon and ginger sit alongside subtle touches of dried fruit, bright citrus and a hint of green banana.

Taste
Vibrant and smooth, led by orange and lemon notes that bring a juicy freshness. Gentle oak spice builds underneath, joined by crisp fruit tones and a soft warmth of ginger.

Finish
Balanced and moderately sweet, drying slightly over time. Lingering oak and citrus remain, with a delicate thread of ginger carrying through to the end.
