Paired Lagavulin 16 Year Old Single Malt & Sweet Hazelnut Praline

Lagavulin is arguably the 'go to' single malt from Islay and when paired specifically with handcrafted Sweet Hazelnut Praline, the result is harmonious. The spices of cinnamon and clove really add depth to the malt in which, unless you’re an expert, you might have never experienced before. A true Father’s Day treat for the peaty malt-lovers out there. Highly recommended, it will not disappoint.

Lagavulin 16 Year Old Single Malt

A firm favourite with the taste team at The Spirit Co and rightly so. Aged in oak casks for at least sixteen years, this hugely popular and much sought-after single malt is both peaty and smoky, typical of a Southern Islay dram. The unique dryness turns it into a truly amazing rich and full-bodied whisky.

The nose is immensely smoky and complex, with notes of iodine, seaweed and fruits. The palate is also smoky, but not overwhelming, it has hints of sweet, saltiness and oak. The finish is long and peaty, with dried fruits and seaweed.

Smooth caramelized hazelnuts infused with sweet spices and blended with a unique caramel-noted milk chocolate. The unusually high percentage of hazelnut creates a fuller flavour and more silky texture.

Pairing note:

This intense yet smooth caramel and vanilla noted milk chocolate and malty hazelnut praline is infused with sweet spices complimentary to the rich fruitiness of the malt whisky. The delivery is as powerful as that of the whisky with its intense yet sweet peat smoke and peppery spices.
