Matured in American oak wine barrels that have been used to mature both red and white wines and then re-toasted. Very interesting and a delicious whisky that has won numerous awards and received recognition such as best single malt in the world in 2015 at the World Whisky Awards.
The nose is Vanilla and caramelized sugars with dark chocolate on top. Stewed fruits tempt you in for more.
The palate is of Kiwi and a fabulous mix of citrus fruits burst. Pepper is also present in the background just waiting its time. The finish is complex with hints of chocolate and stewed fruit.
This cask strength single malt is a real gem and one to be savoured.
