Aged Islay expressions are hard to come by, especially ones distilled in 1985! A time where computers were using Microsoft Windows 1.0 and we were treated to great films like Back to the Future. The Fiona Macleod 33 year old is full of character and charm. A truly superb whisky that really boasts the best of Islay.
The nose is full of tropical fruits, vanilla, caramel before leading way to an enticing smoky aroma.
The palate is salty with smoked wood tones, mango, ginger, citrus and dried fruits.
The finish is just as complex, barley, dried fruits, citrus and wood smoke.
